5th track in the "Like this status for a song dedicated to you" status that I made way back in October 2012. Done in sort of a folk/country style, with tempo and key changes, faster up faster up and so on. The lyrics were inspired by a joke I read in Isaac Asimov's Treasury of Humor, if you don't understand it, well, whatever. (Sadly the flow of the joke doesn't quite fit the melody and progression of the music I'd already came up with, so I threw in the little "time passes" bit to convey that)
lyrics
The Porter worked the rails from East to Kansas
The Old Man hopped aboard the Boston line
He had important business to attend to
The Porter was to help him watch the time
"Now see here, son, I disembark at Cleveland
If schedule's true, we'll arrive at 4 AM
I'll catch a few hour's rest, but do awake me
I'm quite a heavy sleeper, don't give up, just persist, if I resist...
Eventually the Old Man grew quite tired
He slept in his compartment bundled tight
The Porter was a man to keep his promise
The train continued rolling through the night
[Time Passes]
The old man woke to unfamiliar surroundings
And stormed out of his cabin in a huff
He realized they were nearly to Chicago
He grabbed the Porter's collar by the cuff
"You little runt, I gave but simple orders
And here you go and fail me like a bore
Goodbye, good riddance, learn to do your job, son!"
He hurried out across the station floor
The Porter stood a moment dumb and speechless
He thought back o'er the hours and picked his brain
"If that's the guy that wanted off in Cleavland,
then who's the old man I put off the train...?"

Found these guys via a Facebook ad. Nice blend of industrial, goth, pop-rock, synth, and a taste of punk. Think of Nine Inch Nails mixed with A.F.I., with a smattering of Depeche Mode and MCR :) eddielagato
It's his earliest work, but probably my favorite, since it introduced me to his wonderful work. Electronic progressive metal at its finest, has some crazy riffs... Check out his other stuff too. :) eddielagato
